It’s a break from our usual politics today (even if some serious shit is going down *cough* Sotomayor *cough*) because I want to highlight some web comics much better than mine.

First and foremost, 6 Or 7 Popes is a crazy web comic that comes out bi-weekly (kind of, they’ve been slacking lately) about the last surviving popes in the universe. The art is wonderful on a strip by strip basis. However, the writing isn’t consistent (I suspect they have too many hands in the jar) and I’m not sure who exactly does the lettering but it’s all over the place giving it a widely inconsistent look but there are gems such as Hellephant, which I’m sure you can guess is ARE's favorite character. Anyway, check them out.

Second: Gone With The Blastwave. Written and drawn by a fella named Kimmo Lemetti. It’s a fantastic little strip about the apocalyptic war of Red, Blue, Yellow and the inability to escape a dying city. Funny as fuck and the art is stellar stuff, done all digital. Sadly, it never comes out with any kind of schedule making it hard to keep your interest. Check out Kimmo and his gotmorr.com site as well.

Finally, a great little strip called Cock N Bull. Always funny and the art is a great hand drawn mixture of Sunday funnies in your local newspaper and drawings a child would make. Reminds me of Are and Dee quite a bit and because I’m so narcissistic, I dig it.

Now I have no problem with people buying American cars in an attempt to stimulate job growth. I’m sorry but any company that refuses to get in line with the future and produce cars that people want, deserve to go under.

Now, I have Adobe Illustrator CS3 (thanks to the wife) to learn. So the march continues. Personally, I’ve always been interested in web comics (such as Ctrl+Alt+Del and Gone With The Blastwave even if I’ll never, ever be on that level) and I never knew if I could do it or not. I’d like to believe this has been a success and judging by how many visits I get a month, quite a few of you do to. So I’ve decided to continue The Nonsense of Are and Dee for the foreseeable future.

Well, wow. Sarah Palin is a bone-a-fide cougar and no, I have no problem with this. She can keep on looking good.

What she can’t do is continue on her path of righteousness about Republican Values like they are the fucking pinnacle of morality. I wonder if having a 17 year old daughter knocked up and unmarried reminded Palin of her failure as a mother. For someone who can’t keep her own house in order, as a 20 month Governor already involved in a legal quagmire, how can she keep a White House in order?

So Obama has made his choice and the Democratic National Convention has already kicked off, leading to our inevitable ruination. For all the rhetoric that Obama’s camp throws up at McCain about being part of the old guard, he picks a Senator that’s a career politician of 30 years, the poorest Senator serving and a man who has sought the Democratic Nomination twice and lost both times.

Normally, I’d like to let the comic and the link speak for itself. However, this time I felt it was worth the blip.

From this one young mans reaction to the fact that Obama has made a better effort to reach out to young voters through college campus speeches, internet social sites like Facebook and Myspace (regardless what you think of them, they ARE effective) and has generally been seen as the more tech-hip of the two (McCain admits he doesn’t even use Email!), is insane. To DEMAND that a school host a speech for a man who has no intention of ever appealing to a Young Republican otherwise the school might lose their tax exemption is fucking absurd. Not to mention, illegal. You can’t bully your way into a venue with idle threats, nor should anyone think they can.

But this is the kind of thinking that has put us in an illegal war. Destroyed our reputation across the world and made us look like fools. Nice going kid. You’ll make a hell of a politician one day.
